Content Optimization - The importance of thinking in Keywords
Websites are ways to reach out to your target consumers. They speak for you and lead customers to buy or seek your products or services.
Let's imagine you have a website which has an impressive design, showcases your service or product well and presents a good image of your brand. Though, everything is damn good about your website, it does not bring in traffic or big leads for you. This is where Search Engine Optimization or SEO helps. As most users search for products or services through search engines, optimizing your website for search engines can bring quality traffic to your site.
Content is the King
Content plays a key role in Search Engine optimization. Whether you are a web design company or a software company, your website's content is your launch-pad for success in business. In a way, the whole process of SEO relies upon content.
Search Engines value content more than anything else. Your content paves way for your customers to reach you. Users search for a product or service through search engines. They use phrases – keywords – to search on the internet. Search Engines display in their search results only the web pages that offer the best content on the "keyword" searched for. In other words, search engines take into account the keyword-density and relevancy of your webpage to the searched keyword. This is why it is always essential to optimize your website for the keywords users search for.
How to optimize your Content?
Proper keyword research has to be done to find out the search terms or keywords used by users. Keyword selection is an important process in SEO. Only the right keywords can bring in the best of customers to your site.
i. Understand your target group: Before doing a keyword research, understand your target customers. Research and analyze the psychometrics of your target customers – find out how users search for products or services you offer, what are the search terms they use for searching.
ii. Research on the search count and competition: Once you have decided on your list of keywords, find out the search count and competition for them. Search count is the approximate number of searches done using a particular keyword while competition is the number of web pages available on that particular keyword. By finding the count and competition, you would know whether you have chosen the right keywords. You would also recognize keywords which you may have missed out. It is always better to choose a competitive keyword with a good search count.
iii. Keyword-padding: After you have finalized your keyword list, pad them into your mainstream content. See to it that your content has a keyword density of 3% to 5%. Keyword-padding does not involve stuffing of keywords into your content. It is including your target keywords in a natural way to your content. All your keywords should be part and parcel of the content that you create.
Content Optimization is an important part of SEO as it is one of the best ways to get quality traffic to your site through search engines. It is an ethical and organic way of increasing your search engine positions.
